« Révolutions arabes », « transitions démocratiques », émeutes, associations, mouvements sociaux et manifestations…. Le nuancier des formes de mobilisation sur le continent africain est particulièrement riche. Mais le regard porté sur les mobilisations n’échappe ni aux clichés (La rue est-elle forcément éruptive ? La société civile appelée de ses vœux par les bailleurs de fonds est-elle aussi issue de la base ? Se mobiliser, cela signifie-il forcément protester ?) ni à la tentation de distinguer « bons » et « mauvais » mouvements au risque de négliger l’ancrage social réel des mobilisations. Ce panel invite donc à dresser un état des lieux des avancées de la recherche sur les multiples registres du politique en mouvement sur le continent.
Assembling, protesting, rebelling: registers of mobilization in Africa
«Arab revolutions», «democratic transitions», riots, associations, social movements and demonstrations …. The range of forms of mobilization on the African continent is particularly rich. However, the view on mobilizations does not always avoid clichés (Is the street necessarily eruptive? Is the donor darling civil society always grassroots? Does mobilizing necessarily mean protesting?) nor the temptation to distinguish between «good» and «bad» movements, at the risk of neglecting the real social roots of mobilizations. This panel therefore invites us to take stock of the progress made in research on the multiple registers of politics in movement on the continent.
